Description
This position is responsible for the discipline of nursing, and overall accountability for the nursing practice and patient care services in the Southwest Region. This includes Dixie Regional Medical Center (two campuses) in Saint George, Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City, and Garfield Memorial Hospital in Panguitch. The incumbent is responsible for providing direction, leadership, management, fiscal control, and integration of all clinical programs and patient care services. He/she has overall accountability for establishing and maintaining clinical standards of care by promoting clinical consistency and best practices. This position chairs the Nurse Advisory Council, the Patient Safety Committee, and is the Patient Safety Officer. The incumbent supports and provides leadership for the organizations goals and moving toward Magnet Status, is an innovative thinker, an idea nurturer and facilitator of continuous process improvement and operational work redesign. Provides direction and leadership, both professional and clinical, to all Nursing Leaders in the region.

In addition to overall accountability for nursing as noted above, this position has direct accountability for Pharmacy, Infection Control, Risk Management, Care Management/Social Services, JCAHO/Regulatory, Regional Quality Resources, and Magnet Status.

Qualifications
Current State of Utah Nursing License to practice as a Registered Nurse. Master's Degree in nursing or related field is required. Either Bachelors or Masters Degree must be in nursing. Must be knowledgeable about the complex, changing health care environment. Must posses a high level of planning, decision making, organization, and evaluation skills. Must have organizational and interpersonal skills necessary to lead groups of individuals toward common, complex goals. Must have proven nursing leadership experience in a hospital setting including leadership over multiple hospital departments. Must complete Intermountain's Quality Facilitator Workshop or the ATP course within one year of accepting this leadership position.
