Description
This position is responsible for the development and implementation of effective education and training for HIM Coders. This position is also responsible for the supervision of HIM enterprise coders and scheduling of coders to ensure coverage for all Intermountain facilities.
Qualifications
Credentialing and certification as a CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) along with formal education in human anatomy, physiology, disease processes and medical terminology is required. A RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) credentialing is preferred. Bachelor's degree or a minimum of two years experience of HIM Management and a minimum of two years previous training experience is required; extensive training experience is preferred with demonstrated skills in the development and presentation of educational materials. Extensive knowledge of ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding principles and guidelines are required as well as extensive knowledge of Prospective Payment Systems and understanding of the revenue cycle process. Proven ability to conduct coding audits. Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets and database programs is required. Effective communication, interpersonal and organizations skills required. Individual must have demonstrated self-motivation and be able to travel throughout Intermountain facilities if required.
