The Emergency Department (E.D.) at Primary Children's Medical Center currently has a part-time benefited opportunity for a Health Unit Coordinator. This position will assist in the coordination of all activities (ancillary services, admission, discharge, billing) related to the ED admission, and the care of the patient and family while in the Emergency Department. This position serves as the "control center" for all activities within the ED and many other departments.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
Update call schedule maintaining accuracy
Assist with ordering supplies from Dietary, Materials Management and other purveyors
Maintain computerized log-triage board
Accurately order all diagnostic studies
Obtain and process lab results
Ensure that appropriate information is included in patient records and charts

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent
Basic computer skills
Completion of a Health Unit Coordinator course or a Medical Terminology course, or a minimum of 1 year previous hospital work experience
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to work under pressure
Requires the flexibility to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.
