The Health Unit Coordinator coordinates patient and other unit activities by processing and communicating therapeutic and diagnostic orders written by medical staff to nursing and other ancillary staffs; maintains patient records while patient is on the nursing unit; managing unit supplies and requisition of services; acts as receptionist for the nursing unit; promotes guest relations by interacting and responding to patients, families, visitors and staff in an appropriate and professional manner.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Must be computer literate.
Previous hospital or related experience, or completion of Health Unit Coordinator course or Medical Terminology course preferred.
This position requires a team player with initiative, effective communication skills, a pleasant and cooperative attitude, and good problem solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and set priorities.
Previous Medical Clerk and OR Clerk experience preferred.
This position will work varied hours from part-time to full-time. Preferred candidate would be able to work 5-11 pm M-F. Candidates interested in P/T hours are encouraged to apply.
